Purpose/ Problem |
Evaluation the stability and control characteristics of the tailless aircraft
|
Attenuation specific noise sources inside turbofan engines |
Subject/ Solution |
|
An analytic method that derives the ideal target attenuation spectrum that minimizes noise perceived by observers on the ground. |
Methodology |
A hierarchy of variable-fidelity aerodynamics analysis methods, including unsteady linear potential flow, Euler, and Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) solvers as low-, medium-, and high-fidelity analysis, respectively.
|
Analytically modeling airport community noise |
Results and conclusions |
|
Given a hardwall noise source to suppress with acoustic treatment, there exists an ideal suppression spectrum shape that minimizes noise perceived by observers on the ground. |
Contribution |
Contributions of the study are numerous. First, derivations of the equations of motion for the tailless aircraft and stability criteria using system matrices in longitudinal and lateral motions were carried out. Second, a possibility to compute dynamic derivatives at computational cost considerably less than that of the conventional time-marching method without deterioration in solution accuracy. |
